Reserve Deputy Program Bolstered

In July, Sheriff Michael Reese had the honor of swearing in 17 new Reserve Deputy Sheriffs to join the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). These courageous volunteers donate their time and talents to helping our agency’s full time staff keep the community safe. This outstanding group of Reserves comes to the Sheriff’s Office from the Portland Police Bureau Reserve program and we welcome this talent to the MCSO family.

Reserve Deputies support the Law Enforcement Division of the Sheriff’s Office providing added patrols, assisting with special details or missions, and supporting the community during emergencies.

“The MCSO Reserve Program is a win-win for all involved. Reserve Deputies are given an opportunity to learn about law enforcement as a potential career or to volunteer and contribute to the safety and well-being of their community. With these new Reserves, the Sheriff’s Office gained a well-trained volunteer force that will benefit both the agency and Multnomah County,” said Reserve Program Coordinator Sergeant Bernie Meyer.
